Save Douglas Activities thanks Sunrise of Lynnfield for their thoughts and generosity

This letter was shared by high school principal, Kevin Maines.

Hello, Mr. Maines.
My name is Sherene Abu-Hijleh and I am the Activities and Volunteer Coordinator of Sunrise of Lynnfield, an Assisted Living Facility in Lynnfield, MA.
I came across your story of financial woes one evening while I was watching the Fox25 News. After watching the story, it is my understanding that the Douglas Public School System is forced to cut all extra curricular activities, all sports, and several teacher layoffs.
Hearing this story hits home for us as several of our residents were teachers. Many played sports, an instrument, painters, etc. I myself played athletics all throughout my middle and high school years and am also a coach. Hearing this is devastating to my ears!
The residents here have decided to host a Yard Sale to try and raise money for your School System. We hosted our first sale, which consisted solely of clothing and accessories, earlier this month (May 8) and have raised over $200 on items that were priced no more than $5!
But that’s not all! We have decided to host another yard sale, this one consisting of everything from clothing to furniture, on June 13 from 10:00 – 1:00 p.m., to try and raise more funds for your School System.
We would love it if any of your students would like to come down and join us on this day. Perhaps having a few of your students explain the reason behind our sale might gain more money for the cause! I know it may be a bit of a ways away, but we would love to have you!

I have enclosed a few photos from our first yard sale.
